Berman explores abstraction within painting informed by ecological discourse in relationship to her contemporary art practice. Her wooden sculptural paintings adhere to rustic aesthetics incorporating shapes and lines. Her paintings fold around every visible surface hinging to architecture and spatial extensions. Multiple layers of gesso, acrylic, oil, wax are added , as her inner voice is excavated and the physical working are revealed intermittently. As the process of removing layers throughout the painting stages reveal hidden layers which hold intrinsic values, whilst adding and working with the unpredictable nature of intuition and spontaneity.
